About us

Friends of Spud Wood CIC (FoSW) is a Community Interest Company established in 2014 so we could work with the Woodland Trust to set-up wood allotments. We grew out of project started by a group in Low Carbon Lymm who wanted to work in Spud Wood.

Our group now has two projects - Friends of Spud Wood & Oughtrington Community Orchard - you can find details about both on this website.

All our work is within Spud Wood.  The wood is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust, and all our activities are undertaken in consultation with the site manager.   With his guidance and support we help with the management of the site. This includes:

One of the last remaining old orchards in the area is behind the Rectory next to Oughtrington Community Centre. Back in 2005 we took the opportunity to restore the orchard and to enjoy it. Our project aims to restore and maintain the rectory orchard as a community orchard to provide an amenity for local residents and users of the community centre.
